The council of science and excellence is an institution of special knowledge and excellent science. Members of the council are scientists, consultants, instructors in the field of sports, medical science, sports dentistry, physical therapy and dental technology. Candidates of the council were nominated by the members of the council or the management board of IASD. The council further offers a network of extraordinary and exclusive knowledge.
Professor Joerg Eberhard, med.dent, MME, is a dental-scientist translational researcher, Chair of Lifespan Oral Health in the University of Sydney Dental School and the Charles Perkins Centre of the University of Sydney.
He graduated in Dentistry in 1993 from the University of Duesseldorf, Germany and was trained as a Periodontist at the University Hospital Kiel afterwards. In 1999 he started a postdoctoral fellowship at the Department of Biochemistry at the University of California at Santa Barbara and was awarded the Venia Legendi in 2003 at the University of Kiel. Between 2005 and 2007 Professor Eberhard was trained at the University Heidelberg in Medical Education. From 2008 to his moving to Australia, he was full Professor and clinical-scientist at Hannover Medical School.

After graduating medical studies (Groningen, the Netherlands) and Fellowship in Internal Medicine (Cardiology, Angiology) and Sportsmedicine, Professor Johannes Dahm (born 1962) got board examination in Interventional Cardiology and Angiology at Heart- and Diabetes Center NRW in Bad Oeynhausen, Germany.
Until his current position (Head of Department of Cardiology-Angiology-Sportscardiology at Heart- & Vascular Center Neu-Bethlehem in Göttingen, Germany) he was Assistant Director of the Dept. of Cardiology-Angiology of the University Clinic and Dept. of Sportsmedicine of the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt-University Greifswald, Germany.
Next to numerous original-papers and reviews (i.e. EHJ, AHJ, Circulation, JACC, CCI, VASA), he is currently Editor of <Aktuelle Kardiologie> (Thieme), head of numerous working groups of the German- and European Society of Cardiology and Sportsmedicine, Task Force Sportcardiology, Interventional Therapy of Artery Diseases (ITaG), Guideline Commissions, Advisory Boards and CEC-Commitees.
As an former Basketball Player and still active in Compatitive Endurance Sport (i.e. Triathlon) he is Team-Physician of a Basketball Premier League Team (BG Goettingen), numerous national- and international german athletes, and speaker/organisator of sportmedicine-events.

Helge Riepenhof is Head of the Center for Rehabilitation Medicine and the sports medicine department in the BG Klinikum Hamburg. The specialist in orthopedics, trauma surgery and sports medicine is also former team doctor of the AS Rome from the Italian Seria A and the BHAFC Brighton & Hove Albion from the Premier League. Riepenhof, who specializes in prevention, rehabilitation, conservative traumatology, orthopedics and performance diagnostics, has also been coaching the German cycling national team at the World Championships on the road since 2007 and was a member of the German medical team at the Summer Olympics in Beijing ( 2008), London (2012) and Rio de Janeiro (2016).
Scientific priorities are the progression of rehabilitation procedures based on objectified, functional performance tests as well as the practical implementation of prevention concepts in professional and competitive sports.
In these and other topics Dr. Riepenhof over 50 scientific articles, book chapters or reviews and held over 100 lectures worldwide.

PD Dr. Ahlers is a graduate of the University Hamburg School of Dental Medicine, Germany. After graduation in 1988, he began his academic career at the same institution. His doctorate Thesis (1992) as well as his habilitation (2004) were accepted by the University of Hamburg and he was awarded the venia legendi in 2004.
From 1989 until 2004 he was a member of the faculty in the Department of Restorative and Preventive Dentistry at the Univerity Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE), finally being the deputy director. Additionally, he was in charge for the outpatient clinic for craniomandibular disorders, for more than a decade.
In 2004 he founded the new CMD-Centre Hamburg-Eppendorf (www.CMD-Centrum.de), the first German dental practice dedicated especially for the Diagnosis and treatment of bruxism and CMD/TMD. In 2005 he was accepted as awarded the title “Specialist in Functional Diagnosis and -treatment” by the German Society of Craniomandibular Function and Disorders (GSCFD, www.dgfdt.de). In 2010, the CMD-Centre Hamburg-Eppendorf was the first German practice formally acreddited to educate young dentists to become Specialists in Functional Diagnosis and –treatment by the GSCFD.
PD Dr. Ahlers is author/coauthor of more than 150 papers, wrote/edited 2 textbooks, published in 7 editions, and contributed to another 3 textbooks. Furthermore, he mentored several theses.
He is a renowned national and international lecturer with over 500 appearances to date. PD Dr. Ahlers is a member of many professional dental organisations. He won six best presentation awards and was granted the the distinguished Alex-Motsch-Prize twice in 2015, 2016,
